The Bearcat Varsity Volleyball team fought a long, fierce battle against the Templeton Eagles, resulting in a final score of 3-1.After numerous long rallies and 4 sets of aggressive playing, the Templeton Eagles won, but not without a great challenge coming from our Lady Bearcats.

Senior Ashlyn Daughtery explained that her team has been working on consistency and teamwork during practices since their last loss during an away game at Arroyo Grande, on September 13th, 2022.“We really stressed staying disciplined even on the easy plays to make sure we communicate throughout the entire game.” She claimed they also focused on making more smart maneuvers to avoid “getting stuffed” by a block.

Junior Ellie Chavez explained the team dynamic of the Varsity Volleyball Team can be credited to Senior Players: Olivia Wright, Olivia Prickett, and Kylie Stroud, their hardworking Team Captains. “They motivate us and cheer us on when we are on and off the court, they keep us working hard and always doing our best”, Chavez said.

Coach Caleb Ferguson sees good energy on the court when the team is playing at their best. “When we play at our best we are a very social team. Very loud, high energy, and very aggressive. We play as if we cannot make errors.”

Ferguson claims that this is the standard he sets for our Lady Bearcats on the court. He also said, “I think our biggest opponent at this point through the three sets has definitely been ourselves. I don’t believe they have been working at their highest efforts, but were headed in the right direction. I really think we are on the verge of breaking through.”
