Paso’s JV baseball team lost against Bakersfield Christian High School 7-1 March 8, 2022.

The game started with Caleb Powell or “bubba”, as he is referred to by his teammates, up first to pitch for the first four innings. The BCHS Eagles pitched fast — 70-75 mph speeds — against PRHS’s batters, putting a challenge up for the Bearcats. Unfortunately they were pinned with the score being in favor of the Eagles 7-0 by the end of the 5th inning, but sophomore Josh Lewis or “Jlewy” brought up the morale of his team after scoring the first run.

Bearcats were down 7-1 in the 6th inning, and the dugout was getting heated which resulted in the umpire calling a timeout to talk to PRHS head coach Jacob Day about the team’s enthusiasm.

Sophomore pitcher Landon Rivers entered in the 6th inning by striking out five enemy batters with his fastballs hitting speeds of 75 mph.

“I think I did pretty good, pitching wise — good day,” Rivers said. Although they didn’t manage to crush BCHS, the team claims that their next game on March 16, 2022 at 6 p.m., is going to be a good one against the Templeton Eagles. They said they are ready for the challenge.

We’ve seen better, we’ve played better — just wasn’t our day.
