All sorts of emotions filled the locker room on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, as the Bearcats were beginning to prepare for their final home game of the season.

It was sad that it was our last home game at War Memorial, but being senior night created an atmosphere where everyone played their hardest, we knew we couldn’t lose.

— senior Runningback Connor Bowman

The game ended with a 39-point lead for the Bearcats, the most significant lead that they have had so far this season. Paso is currently at a 2-6 overall record and a 2-3 mountain league record.

Before the game started at 5:45, seniors on the football, cheer, and dance teams along with band members,  walked down the field accompanied by family and friends. As their names were announced they walked down the field towards the cheers of the crowd.

Senior Captains Hayden McKanna and Ayman Benbrahaim, who were accompanied by all the seniors on the team behind them, won the coin toss before the game and the Cats decided to start on defense kicking off the first quarter.

Throughout the four quarters, tremendous plays were made by multiple student-athletes. Bowman (1) scored three touchdowns, amassing 21 points for Paso. Receiver and Quarterback Mckanna (4) scored two touchdowns, and wide receiver Senior Tristen Salgado (11) scored one touchdown, 7 points total.

I was getting hyped for the game. It was our last game at War Memorial Field, but it was a good game and we left it all on the field.

— senior Linebacker Jayden Lopez

During halftime, the dance team showed their pink-out spirit by dancing to a variety of songs that were in the Barbie movie, which was choreographed by seniors Ava Cox, Peyton Bedrosian, Georgia Domenighini, and Natalie Boyd. Additionally, the cheer team showed off their stunting skills during their halftime performance, choreographed by seniors Claire Wells, Brooke Lewis, Emma Roby, and Kayla Degnan.

The game ended on a positive note, with the football team showing off their pride and having cheer and band perform Paso’s Alma Mater. As the Bearcats finished the game and lifted their helmets toward the crowd, they were met with cheers from friends, family, faculty, and students showing their support.
