Crack! It’s going it’s going, it’s gone! On Saturday, March 5th, 2022, Bearcat baseball drove 2 hours for a 2:00pm game at Centennial High School in Bakersfield California. Coming off a loss to SLO, the Bearcats were looking to bounce back with a win. Bearcats lost 8-7 in 7 innings, and played a great game. The cats jumped ahead in the first inning with Senior Bryson Hoier hitting a solo home run to deep left field, 1-0 Bearcats. After that inning, the Boys were hyped, and kept the energy going through the whole game. Starting pitcher for Paso was Senior Austin Taylor. In 4 innings pitched, Taylor had 5 strikeouts, 5 walks, and 5 earned runs. Coming into relieve Taylor in the 5th inning was senior Tony Garcia. Garcia had 2 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 2 earned runs in 2 innings pitched. Paso’s offense showed up on Saturday, with a team batting average of .355, and 11 combined hits. The game went down to the last inning, Paso was winning 7-6 going into the bottom of the 7th, but Centennial made a comeback and scored 2 runs to walk off the game. Bearcats played well and put up a great fight, and will continue to improve this season.
