Varsity Softball Girls lost against their rival, Atascadero, by 0-1 on March 12. Atascadero started out on defense, ending with Junior Bailey Doherty, Atascadero’s pitcher, getting three out of Paso’s first four batters out. Paso didn’t score any runs.
“As a whole, our team struggled against Atascadero’s stand out pitcher,” Junior Becca Stroud stated, who primarily plays second baseman. “It was a pitcher’s battle for the most part.”
Jaiden Ralston, freshman, got three quick outs at the bottom of the first inning leaving Atascadero with no runs. Atascadero scored a run after one of their players got on base from being hit by a pitch. Their player then proceeded to hit a triple.
“Jaiden threw a great game, holding the team to one run is very good. We just couldn’t make up for it on offense.” Stroud added. Paso got seven innings in the end of the two hour game and left them with their next game against Sanger.
