MARUCHAN:
Imagine the perfect chicken noodle soup. Maruchan Ramen brand is the perfect instant ramen remedy that replicates the chicken broth flavor that’s best served in a warm bowl for dinner.
Fuentes: It hits my perfect balance of savory and sweet. I really enjoyed this ramen and would recommend it if you’re looking for a ramen that will fill you up and won’t leave you with an upset stomach.
Castillo: This was my favorite among the four ramen options. I like adding the additional egg to make an egg drop soup base, while the noodles are nice and soft.
SHIN RAMEN:
Shin Ramen originated from South Korea in 1986 and has become the best-selling instant ramen in South Korea. It’s a soup-based instant ramen that’s hearty and has spicy beef broth.
Fuentes: I enjoy the kick of spice and the flavor is not overpowering, which is common in some spicy foods where it’s hard to enjoy the flavor because of the overpowering spice. It’s versatile in how you want to eat it too, which is nice. To enhance the benefits of eating this ramen I would add an egg or two for protein.
Castillo: I thought that the spice had a good flavor that was savory and not overpowering. The noodles were soft and I think that the egg enhanced the soup’s flavor.
NISSIN RAMEN:
Nissin Ramen brings the sweet teriyaki flavor into a broth-based noodle. Its ingredients are MSG free and have no artificial ingredients.
Fuentes: I liked the sweet component of teriyaki it had. I think I would avoid eating the toppings because of how dehydrated it was. I would eat this instant-cup- ramen on occasion if I was really hungry or needed a snack.
Castillo: The flavor is there, but you can definitely tell the added toppings that it comes with are dehydrated and don’t really taste real. It’s a good cup of ramen for on-the-go occasions, although I wouldn’t eat this regularly due to how much sodium was in it.
BULDAK RAMEN:
For the spicy food lovers, Buldak instant stir-fry ramen is famous for its array of flavors, but famously debuted its intensity in heat and spice. It surfaced the internet and went viral over time, with platforms such as TikTok and YouTube for its “Spicy Ramen Challenge” in February of 2014.
Fuentes: I always find myself craving this ramen because of its flavor and I’ve developed a fair tolerance for its spiciness. My favorite way to cook this ramen is by adding green onion, sausage, sesame, cheese, and a fried egg on top.
Castillo: This was the very first time I tried Buldak and I really liked the flavors, although I wouldn’t eat this often as I know it’d leave me with an upset stomach. Definitely on the more spicy side.
