During lunch on Friday Oct. 31, 2025 a red carpet rolled out from the leadership room and crowds gathered around. During this year’s Halloween Costume Contest students displayed their spooky styles under the autumn sun while music and cheers filled the air, adding to the fun of lunch.

Hosted by the Leadership Team, the Halloween Costume Contest gave students a chance to celebrate together in the fall spirit.

The contest started a little after lunch began. Students strutted down the red carpet, striking poses and showing off this year’s best costumes while the crowd cheered. Mr. Diaz, the only teacher to sign up this year, joined in on the fun dressed as Lord Farquaad.

The contest had five different categories and six winners who all walked away with a giftcard prize. Among our winners was Sophomore Maddison Holman who thought the contest would be a fun way to put herself out there.

“I thought I had a pretty good chance of winning something because it was a handmade costume. So I thought, why not? Just getting involved, because last year I didn’t really do anything, so this was my chance to do something I like and try something new,” Said Holman. Her favorite video game called Fallout inspired her to make her costume by hand along with the help of her dad, bringing her a win.

“The painting, the building, and the jet pack on the back of it. We bought the backpack to rip up for the thing, the bottles, and then we just bought the shirt and the pants” Says Holman, describing what parts of the costume she worked on.

As lunch came to an end and students headed back to class the joy and music lingered in the air. The contest proved that with spirit, even an ordinary lunch break can turn into a celebration.

Sophomore Emery Teale is currently in her first year of Crimson Newsmagazine and fills the role of People Editor. She is excited to grow in her passion for writing and explore new opinions. Outside of Crimson, she loves music and has played the piano for most of her life. She is in the Paso Robles High School Jazz Band and a part of the Libretto Conservatory fall intensive run by the Rags School of Music. She also enjoys spending lots of time with friends and family.

Noemi Sanchez, Reporter

Noemi Sanchez, a sophomore in her first year of journalism, hopes to learn many new things while in this class and is excited for all the experiences that are yet to come. She is on the varsity tennis team for PRHS. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her family, taking care of her cats, and she also enjoys shopping
