Brandon Van Wagner

A Stroke of Determination

Brandon Van Wagner started quarantine feeling discouraged. He was unable to see any of his friends or family because of the 6-foot social distance rule. Waking up in the morning began to feel like a chore. During the day, he spent his time grinding out endless work and homework. This left only nighttime for him to have free time.

Juggling Life and School

“I’ll never get to have a proper senior year of high school,” Wagner said.

School has been very hard for most students, and this includes Brandon. Online school is very repetitive, but it has given him time to focus on new things. Senior year he added AP

Studio Art to his schedule which has helped give him a structure for his day. He is very talented at art, and it helps him express himself during this hard time.

Along with balancing school, Brandon also has a job at Taco Bell. With most things during this time, his job has been affected by the virus. He has had to learn how to work at this job with all the extra restrictions the virus has caused which has brought on a lot of extra stress. However, he does enjoy working because it helps him raise money for his future plans.

Future is Bright

“My plans for the future are to hopefully work on some popular movies or games and see my art or creativity be a noticeable influence,” Wagner expressed.

Taking AP Studio Art and working a job right now is helping better prepare him for these inspiring plans. Thankfully, Covid-19 will not be able to crush these plans, or slow them down, so Brandon Van Wagner has taken full advantage of this time to make the most of it.
