Varsity football starts off with a win
The Paso Robles Bearcats football team won 35-10 against the Lemoore Tigers in their first preseason game of the 2016 season on Friday, Aug 26.
Coming back from a 5-6 season in 2015, the Bearcats were favored to beat the previously 10-3 Tigers. With a new coach and smaller roster the Tigers are in a rebuild season while the Bearcats have 11 returning starters.
Tigers were able to score in the first quarter but could not score another TD against Bearcat defense. Senior running back Christian Erickson scored the first two touchdowns in the first half along with senior running back Elijah Palomino scoring the third TD of the game. After halftime senior quarterback Steven Schouten brought score to 28-7. Lemoore was able to kick a field goal in third quarter, making the score 28-10. It was senior safety Nolan Binkele who finished the game 35-7.
The Bearcats play Frontier High School at War Memorial field on Friday, September 2 at 7:00.
