By now you might have heard that our school, Paso Robles high school is planning on integrating a shift in our science program. By the year 2026 our school will slowly apply these new changes. Beginning with the class of 2030, as these students start their freshmen year they will no longer be enrolled in Science Academy 1 and instead these new students will be the first to hit the new books.

With these changes, freshmen students will be placed in Biology. They will advance to Chemistry

their Sophomore year and finally be placed in Physics during their Junior year.
Despite these adjustments the upper science classes you can enroll as a senior will remain unchanged.
Science Teacher and Science Department Co-Chair Even Holts
explained “ departments on campus will go through what’s called a curriculum adoption”.
A curriculum adoption is a process in which a school or district adopts a certain method of education that can vary from a textbook to entire programs. In our case Paso Robles High School science department is undergoing an adoption,
a type

of adoption that
selects specific classes specializing on one subject, that updates studies to the most recent
discoveries and improvements, and makes sure our students have up to-date textbooks to ensure that we are
learning the most accurate and reliable information.
With these new shifts our school hopes to create better learning

opportunities as students continue to move forward with their high school experiences, and lay out the future groundwork for Bearcats to come.
