Taking a trip to the football field instead of finishing class assignments was not what students at Paso Robles High School (PRHS) had in mind for their second period class.
At approximately 9:54AM on Tuesday, November 18th, the floors and walls of the PRHS campus shook down as a low grade earthquake took action. The earthquake struck at a 4.1 magnitude and was about a mile out from Paso Robles, with a depth of 3.5 miles according to the Los Angeles Times.
For many, this was the first time the room was shaking,
“I was debating whether I should just duck under the desk,” freshman Zackary Strange said after experiencing his first earthquake during his English Honors class taught by Aiden Evans.
Students had diverse reactions across campus too.

“Everyone started saying, “Oh my God that was crazy, I can’t believe that just happened.” They weren’t screaming but everybody was definitely loud,” Freshman Sophia Morgan expressed after witnessing the craziness of her acting class with Marcy Goodnow. On the other hand,
Strange stated that he had never felt the effects of a quake, while others hardly even noticed that it had occurred.
Unlike the quake that took place on Tuesday, December 23rd 2003, which stood at a 6.5 magnitude and took out the downtown squares clock tower along with the Flamson Middle School building, there were no damages reported for this event, but local geological reporters and seismologists are still keeping an eye out and will keep us updated.
As of right now there have been 6 earthquakes reported near the area in the last 24 hours, all ranging from a 1.5 or less magnitude. There have been no effects of the aftershocks so students are returning back to their classes and gearing up for more assignments as the earth beneath them mellows out.
