As students left campus for the 2025 summer, they left seeing a hole in the ground and piles of bricks. Two months later, they came back in August
2025 to see an empty pool, stands, and an almost complete building. These soon will host the plethora of water sports and fans on our home soil.
Approved Feb. 13, 2024, construction of the pool began after equipment arrived on campus in late May of 2024 with local company Harris Construction taking control of the project.
The 2024 construction plans have remained the same, consisting of a 38-meter by 25-yard pool with a shallow end and diving well with a bathhouse that is 3,692 square feet.
The total budget of the project remains the same at $16,759,125. Most of this funding came from construction being a Measure M project. Measure M is a $95 million general obligation bond that the district passed in an election on Nov. 8, 2016. These resources include documents that relate to construction projects such as the new pool.
As development continues, aquatic athletes are growing eager for the project
completion.
“We’ll be allowed to host tournaments, afford more equipment, and other things [once the pool is completed],” said sophomore and Girls Varsity Water Polo player Macoy Sill. “It’ll definitely bring in more girls to the sport.”
“All 3 shade structures have been installed, roofing and EIFS (exterior finish) of the pool house started [the week of Sep. 8th], and the pool deck concrete pour took place [the week of Sep. 15th], a big milestone for the project,” head of construction, Britiany Baker said.
The project had an original completion date of Nov., however a main electrical line was identified in May 2024 and had to be relocated. The district immediately started the design process to reroute the line with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). After some time, the district received approval on Sep. 2.
PG&E has scheduled the relocation for the upcoming winter break as the maintenance will cause a temporary power outage at PRHS.
There is no set completion date, but it will be after the 2025-2026 winter break.
