Lucy Gray Baird, elected as tribute, embraces her destiny by singing the truth ahead of her. Immediately draining emotion from her audience, she is expected to be treated well.

Recently, the fifth hunger games movie: The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The first movie showing came out in 2012, and after more than ten years the series is still admired.

Personally, I think the movie is a great addition, portraying the life of Snow, the president of Panem before his success. I believe it has important connections to the other movies, as well as an understanding of the past life for all citizens.
The lyrics “Where they strung up a man, they say, who murdered three” from “The Hanging tree” song that Lucy wrote about Snow embody the impact Lucy had on District 12 since Katniss sings it so many years later. It also explains Snow’s surprise and further actions towards Katniss during her time in the games, along with many other relations.
The director, Francis Lawrence, displayed the past very well. It was clear that many things had been different and more difficult. Rachel Zeglar as Lucy Gray Baird played the part effectively as outgoing and demanding, yet kind. The unfairness of the games, leading to her song of emotion also gained love from her audience. Her life experiences and song creations are very significant during her time, and in the movies presenting the years after.

Young Coriolanus Snow was a much softer character compared to after he became president. I had a tough time thinking of him as the enemy because of his initial loving persona. He truly wanted to help Lucy: he even believed the games as a whole were an unnecessary tradition to continue. A hero turned villain always provides us with the decision to choose love versus hatred.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot And More Details

I think that overall it was a captivating movie, revealing the beginning of the games, and many traditions of District 12. The character development of Snow showed significance for the future movies, presenting us more understanding of his loss of consideration for anyone in The Hunger Games.
