From Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, to Pinocchio. From Fantasia to Dumbo. From the Little Mermaid to the Lion King. From Meet the Robinsons, to The Princess and the Frog. From Winnie the Pooh to…Raya and the Last Dragon? New movies are starting to overtake the thrones of the old movies, and the stakes are rising. After the release of the first Zootopia, having the biggest opening weekend, and becoming the fourth highest grossing film in the US for its release in 2016, a new one has been released.
Zootopia follows the story of a world where the animals act like people. They have jobs, phones, and spas. This story follows a bunny named Judy Hopps and her journey to becoming a police officer, after everyone told her it was not possible. She eventually befriends a fox and ultimately completes her goal of becoming a police officer.
Zootopia 2 follows the story of Judy Hopps, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Nick Wilde, Jason Bateman, as they continue to be partners in the police force. They get a mission to investigate a mysterious storage facility on the docks in Zootopia, playing a mother and father. Although Chief Bogo, Idris Elba, doesn’t stop or stand down. They continue to follow the suspect around, chasing down the van. There is nothing but an open crate and reptile skin in the bag. The Chief sends them to partner therapy because he doesn’t believe they work well together. Judy refuses to give up. They go to a gala to investigate more, protecting the Lynxly journal, only to find… their the ones stealing it?! Throughout the journey they make unlikely friends, uncover secrets of Zootopia, get betrayed, and solve another case that saves Zootopia and the reptiles.
After waiting nine long years, with a budget of approximately $150M, Zootopia 2 was released on November 26th, 2025. Quickly surpassing Ne Zha 2 ($431.22M), and grabbing the title of the highest grossing animated opening of all time with $559.5M. In the opening weekend of Zootopia 2 the movie earned $100,262,540 according to imdb.com. The voice acting was started in April of 2024, with Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde. The movie broke many many records in box office, as deserved of how good the animation and the voice acting was.
This movie was an amazing sequel to the first movie and this review will help viewers want to watch the movie.
I think that the art of the movie and how the characters were drawn really were amazing and helped how the movie progressed. The animation style added a lot of style to the movie, and added to the movie’s atmosphere and the feelings that were expressed during the movie. I think that the animation for the characters and the backgrounds and the skies and objects in the movie were amazing. The animation style looked absolutely beautiful and if the people who drew it really were invested in taking the time to add details to make the characters look amazing.
I think that the voice acting really did an amazing job of projecting the feelings of the characters to the audience. Their sadness, their happiness, the screams, the yelps of joy, really did make me get in the feels of the movie. I think that the voice acting really made the movie pop and made the emotions flow through the screen and to the people watching. The sadness towards the end and the fear went through the screen and made me very scared, or made me really sad.
The directors, Jared Bush and Byron Howard have made other movies as well as this box office hit, Zootopia 2. Jared Bush has also directed Moana 1 and 2, Encanto, Zootopia 1, and many more. Byron Howard has also directed, Zootopia 1, Encanto, Tangled, and Bolt. I think that their direction of the movie really did help make the movie better. The animation, the voice acting, the sounds, the music, it all helped add to the most amazing sequel they could have made for Zootopia. The first Zootopia was wonderful and I think that what they did with the sequel was the best they could have done to make the movie really pop and get the sequel it deserves.
I think that the movie was amazing. I think the movie was amazing because the animation had so many details that it didn’t even seem like an animated movie. The way the faces looked, the fur on the animals, the way they walked, just everything had so much detail in it. The emotions that were sent from the screen to the viewers who are watching really made the movie more and more better.
The way that the voices were sad, the way that they sounded happy, the laughs, the cries, the yelling, it all was so amazing. The whole movie I was engaged in the story and could not look away. Although, I would have loved to see just a little more backstory on Gary De’Snake, Agnes De’Snake, and the Lynxlys. I would have loved it if there was a little more on the building of Zootopia and the weather walls. Other than that, the movie was absolutely a wonderful watch and I strongly recommend this to everyone who has seen the first movie.
Picture this, you’re standing on a pile of snow, it’s freezing, you just got cured from snake venom, your partner almost died, yet… here you are. Standing and apologizing to him. Nick and Judy after a scuffle with one of the Lyxly’s, a heartbreaking betrayal, they apologize after their fight at the Honeymoon Lodge. This moment was so sweet and wonderful, it made me tear up.
The way the voice actors made their voices sound sincere, the way that the animation showed their emotion, the way the scene was painted. It all flowed through the screen and really hit the whole theater in the feels. This scene was my favorite in the whole movie. Although this makes it a little more unclear whether this means that Judy and Nick are strictly friends, or maybe more. This still was the best scene in the whole movie, the emotions that it made the viewer feel, the animation of their faces, the way they made it serious yet not at the same time.
In the movie the person that stood out to me the most was Fortune Feimster who plays Nibbles Maplestick. Nibbles is an unlikely friend that teams up with Judy and Nick to help them find the Lyxly journal and the snake. Being a reptile nerd and owning a podcast, Nibbles is a little on the crazier side. Feimster really added to this character voice acting in such an amazing way, that you really understood the character. The voice acting of this character stuck out to me the most because it really added to the movie, the slight crazy, the know-it-all that savior and laughs. The movie would not have been the same without Nibbles Maplestick.
Zootopia wasn’t just a hit with the visuals and the sounds, but the numbers as well.
There were approximately 700 people that were involved in the making of this movie. Making it the biggest movie that Disney has ever done. The budget for this movie is an estimated $150,000,000, according to imdb.com. This movie was started in late 2016 or early 2017. The voice acting started in April of 2024.The movie was released on November 26th, 2025.In the opening weekend for the United States (US) and Canada, the movie earned $100,262,540. Zootopia 2 has become the highest global debut of 2025, surpassing Ne Zha 2 ($431.22M).Zootopia 2 also has the highest global opening for an animated sequel, of all time. As well as being top for Walt Disney Animation Studios, beating Moana 2. The making of this movie took 4-5 years to complete. It has taken nine years since the first movie came out to make a sequel to the hit Zootopia movie. The movie is approximately 97 min. and 30 sec. Since the first Zootopia has come out there has been a 239% increase of money earned in the opening. Holding that record along with many others. Zootopia 2 grossed $616,776,630 worldwide, which compared to the first Zootopia movie (over $1 billion), seems to be catching up. Soon, Zootopia may be surpassed by its own sequel.
The movie was a wonderful experience, leaving viewers waiting for more.
I think that the music during the movie really added to the atmosphere as well. The music was done by Michael Giacchino, who did an amazing job putting in the music in certain scenes that added to the atmosphere. The visuals and animation for the movie were amazing as well, the animation being done by many people at Disney all working together as a team to make the visuals appealing and the details immaculate. The voice acting in the movie was out of this world as well. The way that each voice actor fit the roles of the characters in the movie really made everything pop. The voice acting really pulled the whole thing together in the end, alongside the music and the animation.
Old snakes, and higher stakes, Zootopia 2 rises to the top of the box office, being another hit. The movie was amazing, I recommend this to anyone who has seen the first movie. If you haven’t, I recommend you watch them both. This movie was amazing, the feelings being projected from screens to hearts, and the animation being the most top notch I’ve ever seen. Zootopia 2 is in theaters now and will be released on Disney+ in mid-March of 2026.
