Harry Styles releases his fourth solo album after a three year hiatus, giving fans groovier tunes than ever before
DISCO DOWN

Former One Direction star, Harry Styles, released his fourth solo album this last Friday, March 6, 2026 after being MIA for nearly three years. After concluding his 22 month long travels for Love on Tour, showcasing his two hit albums Fine Line and Harry’s House, Styles had decided it was time for a break. In a recent interview with BBC news, Styles mentioned that he wanted to learn how to be a part of the audience and bring the feelings that he saw on stage with him into his next record, and that was what his break was all about. He rediscovered his love for music and incorporated what he saw into his own works.

Kiss all the Time, Disco Occasionally has come as a shock to Harry Styles fans world wide, as his music takes a different approach than what he has done in the past. With its upbeat, club-like feel, this album makes you want to, “Move it side to side with your hands up high” as Styles’ hit song “Dance No More” encourages. Some have even argued the genre is similar to techo-pop, which gives off a 1970’s and 80’s vibe.

While the album is different it is in no way bad, in fact, I had the hardest time of my life ranking my top five songs even after I had replayed the album ten times. If I was forced to pick though, here’s what I’d say:

1 – American Girls

I have never been more proud to be an American girl than after I listened to this song. I was immediately out of my seat dancing when this song popped up and I felt like I was thrown back in time just hearing the tone of it. All I could hear while listening was the same voice in One Direction over a decade ago, and it instantly brought a smile to my face. Any song that starts with a strong piano will have my heart too, and that’s exactly what this song did. It progressively works its way up to a beat despite its slow start, and I was in love from my very first listen.

2 – Are You Listening Yet?

Ever felt like you aren’t being heard and you just want to scream at the world? Well this song is for you! The level of screaming that I did singing this song was better than any level of therapy I’ve ever gotten, and healed something inside of me despite how much of my voice that I lost. This is definitely another song that I got right up on my feet for, so be prepared upon the first listen!

3 – Coming Up Roses

If you are looking for the most heartfelt love song by Harry Styles, well here it is. Everything about this song was perfect, from the lyrics all the way to the beautiful orchestra heard towards the end of the song. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I believed it was a musical heaven. You can tell just from listening to the song, how genuine the feelings being expressed are. An automatic 10/10 for me.

4 – Taste Back

This song makes me want to take a trip to Paris and soak up all the sun I can get. The flow of it is so light and makes me grateful for all the love there is in the world. I think that what’s so amazing about Harry Style’s writing is that he makes you feel exactly what he does, and he promotes such a different kind of love from his fans. All I pictured while listening was the color pink and sunshine.

5 – Dance No More

Not quite sure why part of the chorus in this song says, “DJ’s don’t dance no more” because I’m pretty sure DJ’s all around the world are going crazy when this song hits the dance floor. This has to be the most upbeat song I’ve seen on one of Harry Styles’ albums and I just know when concert days hit, fans in the stands and in the pit are not going to be able to stay still. You will be shouting along with the lyrics and model walking down your hallway upon listening, I guarantee it.

Honorable mention – Carla’s Song

It felt illegal for me to not include this song somewhere in this review because of how good it was. I would say Carla’s Song is comparable to “Satellite” off of Harry’s House with all of its drum beats. Even though it isn’t in my top five list, it is definitely worth a listen.
