Varsity baseball suffers close loss to St. Joseph High
Varsity Baseball lost 2-3 to the St. Joseph Knights in their March 29 home game at Barnhart Field. The loss moves them to 4th place in Mountain League standings with a 2-2 record (9-7 overall).
The Bearcats surrendered two runs in the first inning, leaving a deficit that proved too challenging to overcome. The score didn’t change from 0-2 until the fourth inning; senior Dylan Griewank’s single produced a St. Joseph error, which brought Bearcat runners on second and third base home.
St. Joseph scored again (the final run of the game) in the top of the fifth as a result of two separate Bearcat errors, bringing the score to 2-3. Paso Robles came close to scoring the tying run in the bottom of the 7th but narrowly fell short, as Kolby Gidcumb’s strikeout ended the game with Bryson Hoier on third base.
Varsity Baseball plays next on April 3 in an away game against Atascadero.
