National Human Trafficking Awareness month took place in Jan. 2020 to spread awareness and funds for victims. On Jan. 11, PRHS Peer Communications students created a lunchtime activity including candy, keychains and handouts of hotline numbers. Senior Clara Lundy was in charge of preparing and working the booth.
“ The point of this peer event was to spread awareness on campus about human trafficking because the central coast, specifically Paso Robles is a huge spot for human trafficking because of where the highways meet and the fact that we are directly between LA and San Francisco” Lundy said
She was also helped by Fabian Mandujano, Isabella Morgan, Oren Flores, Akasha Asberry, Yamilet Aramburo, and Rudi Esqueda Aleman. They all helped prepare and produce the event including participating in it. Lundy made sure to spread awareness for the safety of others and herself.
“We set up a table at lunch and people came and asked questions, played our trivia game and won candy, and overall had a good time while we got to play music and spread awareness about human trafficking.” Lundy said.
