Shooting their way to the top, the Bearcat Varsity Women´s soccer team defeats the St. Joseph Saints 2-1 in a nail biting performance.
Starting the game on defense, junior Rayvin Wulfing counters the Saints offence and speeds past two defenders giving her a fast breakaway earning herself a goal making the game 1-0. Senior Alexa Garcia then scores a penalty kick around the 20 yard line sinking in a corner shot to make the the game 2-0; Bearcats. With strong defense and pressure, the Bearcats hold the Saints to 0 goals the entire first half.
During the beginning of the second half, the momentum shifts towards the Saints side as they sneak a goal past the keeper in a mosh-pit of Bearcat defenders and Saint attackers. The Bearcats then face a tense stalemate as the Saints anxiously charge on offense to attempt to tie the game. Luckily, goal keeper Jasmine Solorio (junior) shuts down the Saints momentum with some game changing saves and allows the Bearcats to prevail against the Saints with a final score of 2-1.
