Varsity football loses to Arroyo Grande with a score of 20-21
The Paso Robles Bearcats lost to the Arroyo Grande Eagles on Friday, Oct. 11 by a slim 1-point margin in front of the hometown crowd at War Memorial Stadium.
Paso Robles’ Bennie Johnson, Jr. opened the scoring in the 1st quarter with a 59-yd rushing touchdown. The Eagles scored late in the 2nd quarter, tying the game at 7-7 as the teams headed to the locker rooms for halftime.
Both teams scored again late in the 3rd quarter; Paso Robles scored on an 8-yd rushing TD, which was quickly followed by Arroyo Grande scoring on a 32-yd rushing TD.
The Eagles scored again with about two minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, bringing the score to 14-21. Paso Robles got the ball into the end zone for a touchdown with seconds remaining in the game, bringing the score to 20-21. However, the Bearcats failed on their 2-pt conversion attempt and the game ended 20-21, Eagles victory.
The Bearcats next play St. Joseph in Santa Maria on Friday, Oct. 18.
