Senior Roselina Luera explores new hobbies with more time on her hands

      Senior Roselina Luera has been immersed in school activities since her freshman year. Starting off her high school career, she was accepted into the advanced dance class where she has since performed at every home football game. Since then she has become more involved as a Link Crew leader, Creston 4H secretary, FFA swine show team, and class of 2020 secretary. 

      Luera takes school very seriously and considers it a top priority. She has grades to maintain as she has committed to UCSB for the fall of 2020. “Now that distance learning has been implemented, most of my time is dedicated to school work. I spend an average of four hours a day on school work, but of course there are snack and social media breaks,” Luera said. 

     This chaotic time is filled will unsure emotions, confused thoughts and exciting plans seniors hope will occur. For Luera, she misses her friends, school, and busy schedule that kept her feeling purposeful. 

      “It’s been really difficult for me to sleep at night because I’m just not nearly as exhausted from my daily activities. I miss the social aspect of my old schedule for sure. It’s been a huge bummer to not be able to hang out with my friends during this difficult time because they really are my support system,“ Luera said, reflecting on what she misses the most. 

     Although there seems to be a cloud of darkness over most students there is light that seniors like Luera have discovered. She has been able to make more time for activities she has always wanted to do like working out, running, and painting. 

     “There is a lot more time for me to spend on….well, me! I’m trying to take this time to reevaluate who I want to be as a person and hopefully come out of this not only being fit, but having a positive mindset and fresh perspective on life,” Luera said.
