Former principal (March 2019-July 2023) and current Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Career Technical Education (CTE), Anthony Overton, will become the CEO for San Luis Obispo County’s Habitat for Humanity in June.
Since 1997, Habitat for Humanity SLO is a non-profit housing organization that has built and repaired homes throughout the county. Globally, Habitat for Humanity works in local communities across all 50 states in the United States and around 70 countries, worldwide.
“Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing,” as stated in their overview on their website.
In the 2023-2024 school year as a director for school curriculums, instructions, and CTE pathways, Overton’s hard work has created an increase in student participation in college and career pathways: a 7.9 percent increase rate, district wide. He also oversaw the improvement rate of the Duel Enrollment and Enrichment program with Cuesta College: increasement from 54 percent to 83 percent.
After joining their team, Overton’s long term goal for Habitat for Humanity is to expand affordable housing, empower families, and strengthen the communities of SLO county.
