All you wanna do is look at Kennedy Myrick when she reaches to the sky on her overhand serves. Between the months of Aug. and Nov. the Paso Robles High School Women’s varsity tennis team experienced growth and being closer off the court, so that they could play better on the court.
This year the team moved down a league, from Mountain to Ocean League, in hopes to better match up with teams at their level.and ended up with a record W-L record of 5-5.
“It’s a lot better for us to play because they are at the same level as us, and there are more chances to win,” senior America Vega said to the change.
During league finals on Oct. 23rd, Alex Tashma placed third in singles, Isabella Rendon and Grace Tellian placed fifth in doubles, while Dayana Aispuro and Kennedy Williams placed 6th. The team had a final outcome of 3rd place in Ocean League.
Qualifying for CIF was a pleasant surprise, senior Rendon said, “It was exciting, given the reason that our season was a little rocky, but it was nice, and we never gone before.”
The team also enjoyed bonding and team building at the women’s 2-Day Tennis in the Clovis Tournament.
“During the Clovis Tournament everyone got together, it felt more like a team,” senior Rendon said.
Although the team only made it to the first round of Division 3 in CIF, they had a successful season of team bonding which then showed on the court.
