Pumpkin spice chai lattes, trees changing hue– that’s your cue, Halloween is around the corner! Possibilities for Halloween costumes are limitless. It doesn’t matter what universe your character is from, on Oct. 31 everyone fits in. As much as students disguise themselves behind a mask or fun makeup, even going full incognito– some choose to not dress up. They might feel embarrassed to dress up, or they might not celebrate Halloween.
In a survey of 162 people, out of all those people, nine stated that they do not celebrate the holiday. 30 people are not dressing up this year, or have no clue. Whereas the other 132 students, who participated in the survey, have various different costumes in mind. For some, cost can affect the outcomes of dressing up, but that doesn’t prevent the fun.
“I honestly truly don’t know what I want to be, but I know the cost will influence my decision for the costume,” sophomore Jazmin Lizaola said.
Sophomore, Unika Mae Bailey, has no shame in dressing up this year. When asked if dressing up for Halloween was expensive, she said, “Not really. You can just like, put a sheet on your head and go as a ghost.” Bailey herself is going as a character from a childhood show, Cosmo, from The Fairly OddParents.
Cartoon characters from movies and shows are popular among students at PRHS, the most mentioned costume in the survey was Spider-Man. A total of 4 people from the 132 that are dressing up are traveling to the Spider-Verse for the night. Second place was Draculaura from Monster High, with 2 going as her, fitting in with all the other monsters on the night of the 31st. Everyone else’s costumes vary from different franchises. No matter what someone dresses up for Halloween they will still enjoy all of the festivities offered in the night such as trick or treating, haunted houses, or relaxing at home watching scary movies.
