With a breeze, and a temperature of 73 degrees Fahrenheit on September 17, 2024, the energy of victory danced in the hearts of the Varsity Girls Water Polo team after 22-2 romp of Pioneer Valley HS.
The familiar beep of the starting signal rang off throughout the pool and the game had begun. Within 30 seconds, #4 Kate Harrington scored a goal against PV. Right after, #19 Summer Colegrove got a steal and a goal.
In the first quarter, the game was already 8-1, a clear sign of the eventual trouncing. Top Bearcat scorers included Harrington, Macoy Sill, and Colegrove. Their game was located at Municipal Pool with Ms. Bellew as head coach.
As freshman Keely Smith stated, “It was a really good experience to get playing time for our [newer] players, and it was also their first game. For some of the older players though, it was. . .a good time for us to step into a leadership position.”
Their next game is Oct. 17 at Santa Ynez High School.
