Tension in Russia has continued to increase as western countries, including the United States, have started to impose sanctions on trade with Russia, drastically impacting the Russian economy. In response Russian President Vladimir Putin has put the countries air and sea nuclear weapons on high alert, threatening to use the weapons if NATO (The North Atlantic Treaty Organization), the United States, and its allies continue to impose on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
“I invited you to discuss economic and financial issues… bearing in mind the sanctions that the so-called Western community – an empire of lies, as I called it in my address – is trying to implement against our country,”
Ukraine’s defense minister sat opposite Putin’s adviser on culture in a meeting in hopes to find peace between the two warring countries. February 28 was the first peace meeting between Ukraine and Russia and was ultimately a fruitless endeavor. Ukraine requested a ceasefire and full withdrawal of Russian troops with no success according to the Daily Mail
At this time Ukraine continues to defend against the invading Russian forces. The war rages on with no sign of peace any time soon.
