Trial closed with close scores and outstanding individual efforts
The PRHS Mock Trial team fought in a prosecution on Jan. 28 and Feb. 1 and 2 against SLO, Templeton, Mission Prep, and Coast Union high schools. The case was about human trafficking and false imprisonment. Following a valiant effort, the team lost with a close score.
Of the 14 team members, five won awards on Feb. 9 for their contributions. Senior Daniela Lopez received an award for being the best witness in the county, seniors Imelda Jimenez and Solanda Magnuson got honorable mentions for their part as witnesses, and senior Sadie Mae Mace and and junior Alex Withers were awarded honorable mentions for their part as lawyers.
“All in all, this year was a lot of fun. It’s truly amazing how far we came and how much we improved compared to last year. Although we didn’t win, the entire experience was definitely worth it,” Jimenez said.
The team had the help of APUSH teacher Seth Draine and attorney coaches Mike Holtzman and Bev Dodge.
